Looking at the larger picture of the stand it gives the illusion that it is adjustable. After researching forums before my purchase I found out that it not adjustable, despite the ring in the middle that makes it look adjustable it is not. Even the people at the store I purchased it (a certain game store) at said it was adjustable from looking at the picture, and I had to tell them I read that it wasn't. I can confirm that, because I just assembled it. In the product description it fails to tell you what the dimensions are, it is 24 inches tall. Which puts you in minimum height level for the sensor. Next it is made out of plastic, it feels durable, but I haven't had anyone bump into it yet, it is basically 2 pvc pipes put together. Once you pick up the small box it comes in you can immediately tell from the weight it isn't make out of metal. However now that I think of it, if it was made of metal and it does fall to the ground the sensor would hit the ground harder... You can however adjust the total height by removing the top 12" threaded pipe (male/male) and coupling (female/female). But I was expecting to be able to adjust it to the full working range of the Kinect... didn't the manual say to mount the Kinect between 2'-6'??? Anyway, there are 7 plastic peices. 1) Top base: which uses a quick connect of 2 pinchers to hold the kinect base 2) male/female reducer: male side is about the size of a camera tripod (although I dont have one so I couldn't verify that), female side is the size of a 15/16" gas threaded connector 3) male/male 12" pipe: same 15/16" gas thread connections 4) female/female coupler: same 15/16" gas thread connections 5) male/male 12" pipe: one side with 15/16" gas thread connection, bottom side uses a proprietory connection to the base 6) quick connect wire clip: clips to the bottom pipe, which is slightly larger than... Actually, Microsoft recommends placing the Kinect below the TV, and if your TV is placed at a reasonable height for viewing, 2 feet is about precisely where you want it. If you are a tall person, you can adjust the default angle of the Kinect in the Kinect Tuner. The only exception to this is if you're using it in a small room; in that case Microsoft says it's better to have it at 6 feet off the ground. But obviously then you couldn't use a stand like this anyway. It is kind of flimsy and not very stable (I've almost knocked it over once already), but it gets the job done. When I realized that with my TV setup there was really no place to put the Kinect, I was glad I could just run across the street to Fry's (sorry Amazon, sometimes even Prime isn't quite fast enough) and buy this and get up and running. Someone else mentioned that you could just use a stool or something, but I like that this product is thin...
