In reading about this product before purchase, it was not entirely clear whether it had a continuous zoom capablity. The answer is Yes, it does have continuously variable magnification, although not in the same manner as the zoom on a digital camera. By simply turning the focus knob, one can adjust the focal distance from infinity to approximately 6 millimeters. At the infinity focus setting, the field of view is roughly the same as a simple hand-held digital camera, and the image across the room is fairly good. As you rotate the focus barrel, the field of view continuously decreases as does the focal distance. You can stop at any point in the rotation and find the focus point for that particular setting. At the opposite end of the focus rotation, the focal distance is roughly 6mm (1/4")and maximum magnification is reached.
